Visual identities for one of the most influential music events in the Balkans.

Skopje Jazz Festival is one of the most prominent jazz festivals in the Balkans and has gained international recognition. Since it’s first edition in 1982 this festival in North Macedonia hosted renowned musicians and bands, such as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Wayne Shorter.

Known for the use of vibrant designs and expressive yet minimalistic compositions the festival identity over the years established its distinct visual character. We were asked to design the identities in 2016 and in 2017. For the first occasion our visual reference was a local type of button accordion, while the second time the identity was based on music notation symbols which represents a period of silence and are essential in defining rhythm and music structure.
