Typographic identity for a space that serves as a contemporary art gallery and special event venue.
Cukrarna Gallery is a new cultural hub in Slovenia's capital. It showcases contemporary art, fosters exploration of ideas, and supports diverse artistic projects in various mediums: visual, music, design and beyond.
The main visual reference for this typographic identity was the new architectural intervention done by Scapelab studio. The 19th century façade was kept the same while the inside has a completely new, modern structure. The basic idea follows a similar logic: the historical layer represented by a heavy slab-serif is overlayed by contemporary sans serif: the overlap creates new letterforms. The typeface was made as a variable type with some extreme experiments.
