A rational sans serif typeface for the country's new highly structural identity.

In 2009 Slovenian Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Public Administration opened a public competition for the new graphic identity for the state administration organs. As a part of the team, together with Gigodesign Studio, that won the competition we were in charge for the typographic design.

The identity is based on the typographic structure where the bespoke typeface Republika plays a central role. The idea was to create a straightforward, rational and economic sans that also considers certain distinct features of the Slovenian language. The type should also work on various levels of this highly structural system which includes stationery, digital applications, signage, office use etc. The use of typographic system started in January 2011 and is now being used for various government-related visual communications.
